December 8th marks two years since Milt lost his life to a distracted driver, in fact, an on-duty LA County Sheriff. This tragedy changed my life forever, as my sons and I struggle through our days without Milt – the beloved, dynamic epicenter of our family.
I launched the Milt Olin Foundation with support from my sons, Chris and Geoff, and our many friends. I’m very excited about our new project called #HandsOff App. The app is designed to use as a reminder to drive #HandsOff. I want to thank our initial contributors, especially:
Ron Conway – Founder and Co-managing Partner of SV Angel; Altschul, Olin and Vandergast, LLP; – Milt’s Law Firm; Richard Constant – General Counsel, Universal Music Intl. in London; Paul Robinson – EVP, General Counsel and Secretary, Warner Music Group; Mark Handler – retired, EVP and Managing Director, Walt Disney Internet Group Intl.; Priscilla Hoe – retired, Advertising Media Executive for Horizon Media
…and many others whose extremely generous donations helped jumpstart all our efforts.
The Milt Olin Foundation Team is a group of caring and talented people who have helped build a strong platform to launch a global movement to combat Distracted Driving. Danny Kastner, our Creative Director, has been pivotal to the Foundation’s progress — guiding me since the beginning of this journey and is extremely committed to its success.
The Milt Olin Foundation has partnered with David Zabriskie’s Yield to Life foundation. Both foundations are aligned in our mission to end Distracted Driving. Studies have shown that someone who is texting while driving is as dangerous as someone who is driving drunk. We will continue our campaign to educate the public and lawmakers about the dangers of Distracted Driving. Our fight is part of the greater effort needed to hold distracted drivers accountable for their actions.
